Hi there. This week I want to talk about something borrowers often wonder about but rarely ask: whether there's a way to pay off your mortgage faster.

Payoff Strategy
Your mortgage doesn't have to take 30 years
One question I hear often: do I really have to pay this loan off over three decades? The answer is no. Whether you're early in your mortgage or a few years in, you have real options for paying it down faster—and some of them are simpler than you'd think. Extra principal payments, biweekly payment schedules, or even refinancing to a shorter loan term can all shorten your timeline and reduce what you pay in interest over the life of the loan. The key is finding an approach that fits your budget without straining your finances. If you're curious whether accelerating your payoff makes sense for your situation, I'd love to walk through the numbers with you. Reach out if you'd like to explore what a faster payoff might look like for your loan.

Tip of the Week
Closing costs typically run 2-5% of the loan amount. Ask your lender for a Loan Estimate so there are no surprises.

Tips for Homeowners
Protecting Yourself from Mortgage Scams
1.
Wire fraud is one of the fastest-growing real estate scams. Never wire closing funds based solely on email instructions — always verify account numbers by calling your title company at a number you look up yourself.
2.
Loan modification and foreclosure rescue scams target homeowners in distress. Legitimate help is available free through HUD-approved counseling agencies at 800-569-4287.
3.
Be wary of unsolicited offers to refinance or cash out equity at terms that sound unusually favorable. If someone contacts you out of the blue, verify their NMLS license number at nmlsconsumeraccess.org.
